This week I did some shopping. First, I headed down to Lancetti area, taking the 2 tram from Piazza Giovanni Bausan to Via C. Farini. This was to head to the closest listed phone technology vendors... I first headed to Tre (the same mobile company as Three in the UK and Australia) to get an internet dongle thing. Their promotions have recently changed, but it's really not expensive still. It's pay as you go, which is awesome. Basically, 15€ per month for 100 use hours. Apparently I can pay by the week as well. This was a little challenging to figure out, since the shopgirl didn't speak English, so this was an opportunity to do a little Italian speaking! Anyway, I got the cheapest dongle (chiavetta or "little key"):
I'm using it right now to do this post!
As I walked along, I saw an Italian parking ticket. Look, I know, not that exciting, but I have never seen one before. I mean, I wouldn't know how to tell who deserved a ticket or not. In Italy it seems like people just park anywhere that does not directly block traffic. This includes the sidewalk!
And, this one is for Chris:
The walk man is green! The walk guy works the same as a stoplight in Italy, the top is a red standing guy, the middle is a yellow-orange standing guy, and the bottom is a green walker. I've only seen these on really major roads, ones with bus or tram traffic.
My other shopping jaunt was to Penny, the nearby cheapo supermarket. Here's my haul:
This is 20€ of stuff, and no item was more than 2€, except the Ferrero Roche! Seriously, there was a good selection of wine, and I bought bottles above the average price, and they were both under 2€! Local pears, fresh tortellini and gnocchi, butter, amaretti cookies, fresh pesto, cheeses, yogurts, grapefruit soda, fresh rolls, paper towels. I ate some cheese and bread for lunch after my trip. Braided mozzarella on the left, scamorza affumicata on the right. Both yummy!
