After Oh Bej, Oj Bej, I walked down to the Duomo again.
I went to check in the Galleria to see if the lights were up, and they finally were!
The shield in the center is the crest of Milan. They also have the big TV screens set up in the middle of the dome again. I had sort of forgotten that the evening was opening night at La Scala. Apparently, the opening of the season is always St. Ambrose's day. I walked into the Galleria and they were showing an interview with the director of the opera. It turned out that they were live-casting the opening night show of Don Giovanni, and I walked in during intermission!
I stayed to watch the whole second act. The singing was magnificent, the staging was simple. I am pretty resolved to make it work to go to La Scala at some point!
